Inhibitor mixture for reducing bacteria growth and corrosion on marine steel

چکیده

High strength steel in marine environments suffers from severe corrosion susceptibility and the presence of bacteria can exacerbate effect, accelerating degradation via microbiologically influenced (MIC). Here we propose a novel approach to MIC inhibition by designing system capable limiting effects both bacterial growth corrosion. The combination newly synthesised compound, cetrimonium 4-hydroxycinnamate (Cet-4OHCin), with lanthanum was only tested date that could inhibit abiotic artificial seawater minimise consortium densities over an exposure period 24 h. This success proposed be due them having same anion, making stable when mixed solution test environment. Furthermore, confirmed cytotoxicity testing Cet-4OHCin demonstrated similarly limited toxicity towards human cells as commercially available bromide, known safe additive cosmetic products. new shows promise effective multifunctional inhibitor mixture reduce MIC.
